Shinken Yellow is the title given to one of four retainer families that have served the lord/lady of the Shiba clan, Shinken Red, throughout the generations in the Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. There have been eighteen Shinken Yellows since the formation of the Shinkengers.

- Mitsuba Hanaori is Kotoha's older sister. It was Mitsuba who was meant to be the current Shinken Yellow. However, she suddenly became ill and was unable to fulfill her role, leaving Kotoha to take her place for her sake.

- Kotoha Hanaori is a clumsy and gentle girl who worked in a bamboo shop and speaks with a Kyoto accent. Very much a crybaby as a child, she is close to her older sister, Mitsuba, who had been training to be Shinken Yellow. When Mitsuba became ill and unable to serve as Takeru's vassal, Kotoha stepped up to take her place.

- Shinken Yellow Ranger Key is Kotoha Hanaori's personal Ranger Key and what became of her powers after she, along with the rest of the 34 Super Sentai sacrificed their powers to end the Great Legend War
- This key along with the majority of the Ranger Keys were collected by the Red Pirates and later used by the Gokaigers. The Shinken Yellow Ranger Key was mainly used by Luka Millfy / Gokai Yellow, who used it to fight as Shinken Yellow.
- After Zangyack were finally defeated, the Gokaigers gave the Ranger Keys back to their rightful owners. It is presumed that Kotoha received her key and became Shinken Yellow once more.
